Hafiz Mehmood-ul-Hassan, Trustee

Hafiz Mehmood was born in Soon Valley, Pakistan and was the youngest of eight siblings. He spent his early years in the village of Dhaka, but in 1979, his family moved to Lahore.
He studied at Ghazia Siraj ul Uloom, where he completed Hifz of the Holy Qur’an, and then pursued the study of Tajweed at Dar ul Qur’an. In addition, he completed his college education privately and graduated from Punjab University. In 1989, he founded a college in Lahore, where he served as the head teacher and taught Islamiyaat, Urdu, and Persian.

Hafiz Mehmood has worked at several Masajid teaching Hifz and Tajweed, including Pir Ghazi Masjid in Lahore and Jamia Masjid Ehle Sunnah Wal Jamaat in Odense, Denmark in 1999. He returned from Denmark in 2002 to work as a secretary of education for Hazrat Sultan Bahu Trust in Lahore.
Two years later, Hazrat Sultan Bahu invited him to emigrate to England and work for Al Hira Masjid in Nelson for nine years. In 2014, Hafiz Mehmood officially opened Tajweed ul Qur’an Academy & Jamia Masjid, which currently serves approximately 300 children. The academy offers courses in Nazra, Hifz, Tajweed, Islamic Studies, Sarf, Nahw, Fiqh, and Aqidah. To date, 35 students have completed Hifz of the Holy Qur’an under his guidance.
